Who does not like walking dead! I can tell you this nerd does! I know last season people thought it was a little long in the tooth with everyone split up and trying to find the mythical land of Terminus. But the gang is all back toghether and it looks like the backdrop will change every day since they will be on the move to the even bigger mythical city of Washington DC.
Back the actual cool news though. AMC has ordered a spinoff pilot of the Walking Dead franchise and even though there is very little information out about what it entails we do know one thing. The new series will answer one big question… “What is happening outside of George?” That is right this will not take place in Georgia it will be else where. My bet is Europe somewhere. I guess we will find out once the new series is launched!
Oh and as a reminder…. like you need one! The Walking Dead returns on October 12th at 9pm on AMC!
As most of you know Apple announced not one, not two, but three new iterations of their flagship product the iPhone Tuesday September 9th. These with be the iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 ($199 – $399), and iPhone 6 Plus($299 – $499).
No do not get me wrong I love my nerdy devices just like the rest of you, but I just do not understand why everyone goes nuts every year over what appears to me to be the same product in a different shell. I know, I know there are differences and I am sure some of you iPhyles will know just what they are. But lets be honest are they important to to warrant your blind faith to wait in lines for hours for a piece of equipment? I mean the first 6 months they are working out all the bugs, leaving you for the next 6 months chomping at the bit for their next big release announcement. I just do not get it… I am afraid I never will…
What I thought was the highlight of Apples announcements was the Apple Watch ($349)! I mean look at how sweet looking they actually are! I just not sure it will be able to revive the need to wear a watch. I guess time will tell!
I will an eye on the developments of this cool device. I mean lets be honest the Dick Tracy cosplayers will finally be able to complete there costumes with a watch that can actually do the job and even more!
These little guy is one of my favorite monsters of all times. I loved playing a Psionicist and these guys back in the day were my bane. Oh Wizards of the Coast are we going to see Psionics in 5th edition. I really do hope so! I would roll one right here and now!
I, like many of you stood in line last night to pick up my copy of Destiny. Even though I was tempted to start the game up once I got home I just turned on the old Xbox One and downloaded the patch and went to bed.
You can bet your sweet butt that I will be playing a Sorcerer tonight! If you want you can friend my on Xbox live. My gamer tag is vV Nerdy Vv so lets get our game on!
Archaeologist have uncovered a 5,000-year-old temple complex in Orkney that suggests that prehistoric people were a great deal more sophisticated than previously thought.
The dig at Ness of Brodgar, which is at it’s infancy, has revealed facts that will have us re-evaluate our understanding of how early humans lived. The complex featured paved walkways, carved stonework, colored facades, even slate roofs at a time when buildings were usually covered with turf, hides, or thatch.

The guys over at Gameinformer have posted an article and a 7 minute video showing off what you can expect in CoD: AW. I have to say it looks pretty cool! My only question would be will the expanded vertical play come with a learning curve for all. I guess we will find out on November 4th!

Keith Backer is pretty sure that Eberron will see a 5E makeover, but until then wrote a blog the other day that will help you get started! He gives some pretty cool ideas on how to take some the the staples of the core rules and bend them to fit into Eberron. He suggests leaving a few things out like dragonmarks until they are reworked. So why not head on over to his site and read the full article!
Starting autumn 2015 WotC will move away from their 3 block / 1 core release (explained below) to just 2 blocks twice a year.
“Expansion sets beginning with Mirage have come in groups (usually three) which form a block (the preferred term in actual gameplay) or cycle (the preferred term when describing the associated storyline) consisting of one large “stand-alone” expansion set of more than 300 cards, followed by one or two small expansion sets of less than 200 cards, which continue the themes introduced in the large set.”
They hope this will relieve some of the player concerns of a constant reinvention of the game. With this move that also hope that it will keep the the players excited about what they release and in turn keep the game fresh.
“Since the beginning of the block structure (Mirage block, way back in 1996), the third set has always been a problem child. It needs to have enough cohesion to feel as if it belongs to the block, but it has to have enough differences that it manages to spark the interest of the players, who have already been playing the environment for seven or more months.”
“Who exactly is the core set for? If it’s for beginners, why do we only put it out during one point of the year? Is that the one time we expect new players to start? And why do we keep adding new cards and bringing back mechanics? The beginners don’t need any of that and it only leads to making the set more complicated.”
The new set labeled “Blood” will be release in autumn of 2015. You can read more here.
Days of Wonder best known for it’s award winning Ticket to Ride tabletop game, announced today that it will merge with Asmodee Group.
Asmodee is a huge distributor of board and trading card games. These guys handle other known brands such as Dixit and 7 Wonders and the French publishing rights to the Pokémon card game.
This move will allow Asmodee to find more exposure in the US gaming market. With the gaming community growing in the US (as one can see in the attendance at this years Gen Con) I am sure this will be a lucrative move for them.
One other thing! Not to worry the staff at Days of Wonder will continue heading up the brand as a independent company.
Only good things can come out a merger such as this. Lets face it more backing you have the more you experiment and create!
